Community InvolvementMaryland Physical Therapy is involved in a variety of community events to help members of the community as well as organizations serving those whose everyday life is impacted by various physical problems. Some recent events are shown below. Pasadena Senior Center Health Fair Day May 2010Jingle Bell Run/Walk for ArthritisMPT staff participated in the Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis on November 11, 2007 Not only did we show our support by participating in the run but MPT was the foundation's first ever Gold Sponsor. Sponsorship contributes to the prevention, control and cure for arthritis, the nations #1 cause of disability. Polar Bear PlungeEnthusiastic MPT staff members formed a team to participate in this year's Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park on January 26, 2008. Our team of six raised over $500, which allowed them to take a dip in the Chesapeake Bay on a very cold winter day. The Polar Bear Plunge is a yearly event sponsored by the Maryland State Police to raise funds for the Maryland Special Olympics. This year's donations will underwrite the cost of a new Special Olympics initiative known as the Young Athletes Program. This is an innovative "play" program for children aged 2-7 that focuses on early intervention in the development of critical physical skills. |
